Day 30. One small beard for man. One giant bake sale for mankind.

Its not over yet.
The office bake sale was a HUGE success. Thank you to Heidi, Kari-Lynne, Erin, Melissa, Kristen and our "beard founder" Lisa for creating the tasty treats. And thank you very very much to everyone who generously supported the 30 Day Beard all through the 30 days.
It looks like Monday will be the handle bar moustache extravaganza!! That's right. We surpassed our goal of $500 today - so you all get your reward. The final tally will be added up as little bearded elves will endlessly count the pennies into the night. We will also have a surprise souvenir activity to be announced on Monday morning (just in case I thought it was really over).
Thanks again! Pictures and grand totals will be posted soon!

The End?

Day 29. At midnight we have a grand total of $326.19 to help both great charities with one day left to go. I am happy to see all the positivity and encouragement by everyone to carry this through.

What all started as a small office bet, happily turned into something worth while. The days left behind us: The first signs of Ben Affleck, an afternoon bird incident, the Stanley cup playoff beard mishap, the rare two-tiered beard emergence, the mini-me unveiling, the office screenings and tomorrow...The beardathon Bake Sale. Time has proven that this indeed is no ordinary beard.
Thanks again for all the support.

An interview with Mini-me

Interviewer: Mini-me, is it true that people have told you that your appearance is similar to someone else in the office?

Mini-me: Yes, it all started when that someone grew a goatee and tried calling it a beard. If anyone asks, I had this first.

Interviewer: You seem upset, what troubles you?

Mini-me: Maybe I am upset because I'm sitting around in white boxers all day holding a styrofoam cup. Maybe its because I currently only have one pink nipple on my chest. What do you think?

Interviewer: I see.

Mini-me: What?

Interviewer: Oh nothing. It's just that I can see what they are talking about. The resemblance is uncanny.

Mini-me: This interview is over. Where are my pants?

28 days later.

So with the end in sight, a bake sale is on its way to announce the finale of the 30 Day Beard Challenge.
We desperately need more support before I plan on bringing my razor in on Thursday for the much anticipated handlebars. I can't help but look back on these past 27 odd days and see how much I have matured as a person. Average estimates are ranging from 2 to 4 years.
To everyone that has offered up some money for an outrageous proposal - please find it in your hearts to support the Beardathon and look beyond the haggard appearance. So no, I won't be wearing boxers like mini-me and sporting a multi-coloured beard much like Shannon's Tie-Dyed Rally Suit. But the two-tired beard is raging on and hopes to bring us to our goal.

Stay tuned to the blog for postings and beard events each day up to the end of the 30 Day Beard Challenge!

A Two-Tiered Beard - An In Depth Analysis

Many people don't actually know what a Two-Tiered Beard is, so I have decided to educate everyone with this in-depth analysis. As you can see from the image on the right, hulk hogan sports a two-tiered beard. Not many images have been recorded of this unatural phenomenon. Notice the mature growth in the formation of handlebars adjacent to a second shorter growth on the cheeks. Sometimes these are also referred to as "the chops". This is what a two-tiered beard is, also known as a "split level" or Affleck/Hobo if you will.
In attempts to raise more money for the Stephen Lewis Foundation and the SPCA, I will reward all the donaters by sporting Handlebars for a day IF our goal of $500 is reached by day 30. We only have 8 days to go so lets get those donations rolling in! We have officially passed the $300 dollar mark so this is becoming quite a success story, and the two-tiered beard is causing quite additional buzz to the 30 Day Beard Challenge.
As an added bonus, I have attempted special exercising to enhance the growth of the two-tiered beard. Jason, this is for you.

For the Oil.

Wagering is usually not encouraged during a 30 Day Beard Challenge. However, today a unique new challenge took place. If the Edmonton Oilers were to win Game 1 of the Stanley Cup playoffs, Lisa wanted me to grow a full beard for the remaining 10 days for the ultimate 30 Day Beard Challenge.
However, a horrible thing happened tonight and the Oilers lost in one of the most bizarre playoff games I have ever seen.
After much thought and consideration, in good faith to my word and somehow in the giving spirit of the beard, I believe the beard is large enough to share the hope that it brings to children, families and at this time, hockey players. So with that said, a full beard - not only raising money for two great charities is also hoped to inspire a team, and with it - a nation. The donations are slowing down, and we hope this new scruff that haggards my appearance formulating a "two tiered" beard will remind everyone how many people you can help by supporting the 30 Day Beard Challenge.
